Description About DoorLoop DoorLoop is property management software built for speed and the smart choice for people who take growth seriously. With offices in Miami, New York City, and Tel Aviv, we’re a global company helping property owners and managers move faster, scale smarter, and get real support, real fast. We’re proudly People First. That’s why we’re a Certified Great Place to Work, recognized by Forbes as one of America’s Best Startup Employers in both 2024 and 2025, and earn top ratings on Glassdoor. Mission DoorLoop is looking for a Director of AI Engineering to lead three engineering squads, including DoorLoop’s AI team, and own every AI feature, agent, and solution the company ships. In this role, you will not only deliver the roadmap predictably and at AI-era speed, but also set DoorLoop’s AI strategy together with the Director of Product Management and prove its commercial value. Reporting to the VP of Engineering, you’ll be responsible for delivery, quality, and team health across your squads; for the value, cost, and safety of DoorLoop’s AI products; and for the AI tooling and standards that make all of R&D faster and more correct. Responsibilities • Own roadmap delivery end to end across three squads, make sure each has a quarterly outcome plan with clear success signals, and flag risks well before deadlines • Build a culture of production ownership, where every squad owns and is on call for what it ships, and turns every incident into a retro and a preventive fix • Set DoorLoop’s AI direction with Product, translate company strategy into an AI thesis, and make a keep, scale, or stop call on every AI bet each quarter • Make sure every AI feature ships with a business metric agreed with Product, and report AI impact in revenue, retention, and cost • Require an eval suite and a quality threshold for every AI feature before launch, and keep every production agent at or above its bar • Ensure every customer-facing agent passes a threat review before launch and before gaining any new tool action • Track AI inference and vendor spend against budget, and choose the model that hits the bar at the lowest cost • Coach Team Leads into strong engineering leaders, hire for leadership and AI roles, and grow AI depth in every squad • Build and publish the AI development toolkit, evals, and benchmarks that the rest of engineering builds on, and drive adoption through champions • Work closely with Product on scope and tradeoffs, and stay close to customers through regular customer conversations • Stay hands-on: personally build proofs of concept, run time-boxed experiments, and keep up with the latest models and research Requirements • 3–5 years of experience as a Director of Engineering or in a more senior role, leading multiple teams through Team Leads • Proven experience shipping AI features or agents to production customers • Deep, hands-on understanding of LLMs, AI agents, and evaluation, with the ability to judge model choices, eval design, and architecture personally • Familiarity with AI security risks such as prompt injection, and with responsible AI practices • Track record of delivering a roadmap predictably with strong engineering quality (DORA metrics, incident management) • Experience developing engineering leaders and building high-performing, healthy teams • Strong product sense and business acumen, with a proven ability to tie AI work to revenue, retention, and cost • Excellent communication and partnership skills with Product and senior leadership Bonus Points • Experience building internal AI developer tooling or driving coding-agent adoption across an engineering organization • Experience managing AI inference costs and model vendors at scale • Background in B2B SaaS, ideally vertical SaaS or proptech • MSc in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field Benefits What We Offer • Hybrid work model (4 days in office, 1 WFH day) • Unlimited paid time off • Cibus meal card • Private health insurance subsidy • Pension, Keren Hishtalmut & Dmei Havraa • Real impact at scale — product used daily by thousands of paying customers • Certified Great Place to Work · Forbes America's Best Startup Employers 2024 & 2025 Equal Opportunity Employer & AI DoorLoop is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, marital status, pregnancy, genetic information, citizenship status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
