The Revenue Manager is the organisation's technical authority on when and how revenue is recognised. That role matters even more as the business shifts to SaaS. You will apply ASC 606 to an evolving portfolio of multi-element contracts, combining SaaS licences, implementation services, professional services and usage-based AI consumption fees. You will make sure revenue recognition is correct, consistently applied and free of restatement risk. You will also be the pre-signature accounting checkpoint for non-standard commercial contracts. This is a hands-on role with a leadership mandate. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will build the revenue accounting team and grow it as the function scales. Team Building and Leadership• Build the revenue accounting team: define roles and hiring needs, recruit, onboard and develop talent. • Coach and mentor team members, set goals and review work for accuracy and consistency as the team grows. • Establish ways of working, including AI-enabled approaches, as the business model evolves. Revenue Recognition and Technical Accounting• Apply ASC 606 to the organisation's contract portfolio, performing multi-element arrangement analysis, identifying and allocating standalone selling prices, and determining the timing and amount of revenue recognition for each performance obligation. • Monitor the evolving portfolio of subscription, AI consumption and professional services arrangements, and proactively identify contract structures or business model changes that create new technical accounting questions. • Develop, maintain and communicate revenue recognition policies and procedures across finance and commercial functions, ensuring consistent application through the SaaS transition. Revenue Close and Reporting• Own and execute the revenue month-end close: revenue recognition schedules, deferred revenue reconciliations, revenue journal entries and the revenue management report for financial management review. Delegate and review as the team grows. • Identify and lead opportunities to automate recurring revenue recognition calculations and schedules through ERP-native functionality or specialist revenue recognition platforms. Deal Desk and Pre-Signature Review• Review non-standard commercial contracts submitted through the Deal Desk approval workflow, assessing revenue recognition implications and providing written guidance before contract execution. • Serve as the accounting checkpoint in the commercial approval process for non-standard deal structures. Controls and Audit• Manage the relationship with external auditors on revenue recognition matters, preparing technical accounting memos, providing audit support workpapers and resolving revenue accounting queries during audit cycles. • Administer SOX (or equivalent) internal controls for the revenue recognition process, ensuring controls are designed, documented and operating effectively. • 8–10 years of experience in revenue accounting, including experience in a Revenue Controller or equivalent senior technical role. • Experience leading, mentoring or managing accountants, or a clear readiness to build and lead a team. • Strong working knowledge of ASC 606 / US GAAP. • Experience with multi-element arrangements, standalone selling price analysis and complex contract structures. • Comfortable operating as a pre-signature technical checkpoint, partnering with Deal Desk, Sales and Legal. • Experience managing external audit relationships and SOX (or equivalent) controls for revenue processes. • Familiarity with ERP-native or specialist revenue recognition platforms, and an interest in automating manual close activities. • AI proficiency: able to apply AI tools across large data sets, automation and contract review. • Strong ability to read and analyse commercial agreements and identify revenue recognition implications in non-standard terms. • Strong communication skills, including explaining technical accounting positions to non-finance stakeholders. • Advantage: prior experience in a professional department (audit) at an accounting firm.
