We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer & Scrum Master for a development team building the next generation software platform for one of Applied Materials' strategic product lines. This is a combined role - 50% Scrum Master and 50% hands-on senior software engineering. You will lead the team professionally , own their Agile delivery, and stay close to the code and product. We are looking for someone who can take ownership from day one while remaining deeply technical. What's in it for you? Our Group We are responsible for developing new capabilities for scanning electron microscope (SEM) tool for semiconductor production manufacturing. Working in Agile end2end Application teams. Closely with Algorithm, Image Processing, and other RnD teams. What you'll be doing: • Own the Agile/Scrum activities of the team, including Jira management, backlog and task prioritization, epics, daily meetings, dependencies, and sprint planning. • Lead quarterly and sprint-level planning, coordinate integrations and cross-functional interfaces, and own project timelines and development quality. • Provide strong technical leadership - understand the code and product in depth, support code design, guide technical decisions, and mentor the team. • Stay hands-on: design and develop software for complex product features, and participate in code reviews and design discussions with architects and engineers. • Lead and develop team members by matching responsibilities to their capabilities, providing challenges, coaching their professional growth, and supporting their day-to-day work. • Drive quality and continuous improvement across the development lifecycle, including testing, automation, CI/CD, and AI-assisted development practices. What should you have? • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent degree. • 2+ years of experience as a Scrum Master, a Team Lead or a comparable leadership experience. • 7+ years of experience in backend/server-side software development, with strong hands-on software engineering capabilities. • Strong hands-on experience in Java or other object-oriented programming languages and software design principles. • Solid understanding of modern software development practices, including source control, code reviews, testing strategies, CI/CD, and release workflows. • Experienced in AI-first development practices, with AI-powered tools and agents serving as a primary part of the software engineering workflow. • Strong ownership, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage priorities and dependencies across multiple teams. Advantages: • Cloud experience - strong advantage. • Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and containerized environments. • Experience with distributed systems or event-driven architectures (e.g., Temporal, Redis, RabbitMQ, Apache Flink). • Experience leading multidisciplinary projects involving software, algorithms, automation, QA, and product teams. • Knowledge of the semiconductors industry.
